The Family Business star, Ernie Hudson talks about returning to the world of Ghostbusting. Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been delayed until 2021, but fans will be able to see most of the original cast return to their iconic roles.
This was confirmed, right? You are going to be in the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife. That’s happening, correct?
Yeah, you know, the studio tried to keep things sort of–but I don’t know what I’m supposed to talk about. Everybody’s back. Jason Reitman wrote an amazing script. He’s directing it.
It’s a great new cast. But me, Bill, Danny, Sigourney, Annie Potts (are in it). We finished the movie before this pandemic kicked in. It was just an incredible experience. Ghostbusters has had such a huge impact on my life. And these are the people I share that experience with. I haven’t seen some of them in years. And to all get back together was just–you know, I walked around the set and wanted to hug everybody. I mean it was almost spiritual. I’m like, “Oh my God!” So, it was great. And I think it’s going to be a wonderful movie.
Did you keep any props or costumes from the original Ghostbusters film?
The only thing that I kept, which I kept from this film as well, I have my jumpsuits. I didn’t ask to keep anything else. I had someone make me one of the backpacks. I didn’t have them make it, a fan volunteered and made it. And different props from the movie, but those are all things people have made and given to me.
But the jumpsuit from the movies, I have. You know, it’s amazing to me that, 35 years later, we’re still talking about it. It doesn’t matter, when I’m on the street–of course now with a mask on it’s a little different. I don’t get asked to do many selfies. And in a lot of ways, that’s a good thing. I’m not complaining about that.
